1 arrested in Saint John drug trafficking investigation

One person has been arrested in connection with a drug trafficking investigation in Saint John.

The 34-year-old man was taken into custody on Tuesday, police said in a news release on Thursday.

He was arrested for possessing fentanyl and cocaine for the purposes of trafficking, as well as possessing property obtained by crime.

Police said they seized 74.7 grams of suspected fentanyl, 7.4 grams of suspected cocaine, $943.75 in cash, six cell phones and two digital scales.

The drugs had an approximate street value of around $15,680, said the police release.

The accused appeared in court on Wednesday. He is expected to return for election and plea on June 25.
