Fatal crash involving transport truck and pedestrian

A 65-year-old woman is dead after she was struck by a transport truck near Grand Falls.

RCMP say it happened at around 1 pm on Friday near the intersection of Route 108 and Hansen Crossing Road in New Denmark.

It’s believed the driver of a transport truck lost control of his vehicle, left the road, went into a parking lot, and struck a pedestrian and a building.

A section of Route 108 was closed while the investigation was ongoing. It has now reopened.
