The Fredericton area is getting nearly a dozen new doctors.
The provincial department of Health has announced that 11 new doctors have been hired. Five of those are family doctors and the other six are specialists. The family doctors will start work soon while the specialists will start working later this summer.
Medical director for the Fredericton area Dr. Tom Peters says these new doctors will be able to take on some of the people who have been on the registry for a while now waiting for a family doctor.
Families and Children minister Stephen Horsman says that the hiring of these 11 doctors will help the government move closer to their commitment of getting all New Brunswickers access to a family doctor.
