RCMP use drone to safely located man lost in woods

A 66-year-old man lost in the woods was located safely thanks to help from a specialized RCMP service.

Richibucto RCMP received a report on April 29 of a man who had gone for a walk in Saint-Anne-de-Kent but did not return.

The remotely piloted aircraft system was deployed, and within minutes, the infrared camera detected a heat signature on a human that appeared to be struggling.

Officers located the man, who had spent 24 hours in the woods, and he was taken to the hospital to be checked out.

“Technology is constantly evolving, and we are fortunate to be able to utilize things like the RPAS to not only locate missing people, but to solve crime and keep the public safe,” says Corporal Stephane Lemire of the Richibucto RCMP.
