Over 10,000 cross Confederation Bridge for Terry Fox

A sight you won’t often see on the Confederation Bridge, pedestrians, instead of cars, crossing over.

The structure that connects New Brunswick and PEI was closed from 6 am to 1 pm on Sunday to hold a Terry Fox run in honour of the 45th anniversary.

Over 10,000 took part, walking or running between the two provinces.

Donations are still coming in, but as of yesterday afternoon, $840,000 had been raised for cancer research.

Hundreds of volunteers helped to make the event run smoothly.

Many arrived as early as 5 am, and school buses shuttled participants back and forth across the bridge to get them to their starting point.
