Woman’s body found in water in Fredericton

An investigation is underway after a body was found in the water in Fredericton.

Police say an unresponsive female was found in the water in an area near the Westmorland Street Bridge on Devonshire Drive, shortly before 5 pm on Thursday.

The individual who was identified as a middle-aged woman, was confirmed dead at the scene.

An autopsy is being done to confirm the cause of death.

Police say at this point, there is no evidence to indicate foul play.
