13th annual radiothon raises $324K for Saint John hospital

The 13th annual Love Your Hospital Radiothon on Country 94 and 97.3 The Wave was another huge success.

Thursday’s 12-hour fundraiser raised $324,300 for the Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation — the second-highest total in the event’s history.

The goal this year was to raise $275,000 to buy two new state-of-the-art apheresis machines for the hospital.

The machines are critical for the New Brunswick stem cell transplant program and cancer treatment.

It takes the patient’s blood and they can either isolate or remove red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets and plasma for medical treatment.

The John T. McMillan Junior Memorial Foundation was this year’s match sponsor and matched all donations up to $100,000.
