14 horses found dead on Stanley-area farm

Animal welfare officials are investigating after 14 dead horses were found on a farm in central New Brunswick.

The New Brunswick SPCA says the discovery was made in the Stanley area over the Easter weekend.

In a Facebook post, NBSPCA said they also found five adult horses in poor health loose on the property.

“These horses were assessed by a veterinarian and are currently safe and receiving medical and rehabilitative care through a foster arrangement,” said the post.

Other pets that were in the household are in good condition and are being cared for daily, said the post.

Officials are still trying to determine how the 14 horses died.
