One Case of Tuberculosis Confirmed

Public health is aware of one case of tuberculosis in Saint John region.

The last confirmed case of TB in the province was at the University of Moncton in January 2018.

TB is a rare and contagious disease. Symptoms include loss of appetite, coughing up blood, fever and chest pains.

It is spread by coughing, sneezing, and through close, frequent and prolonged contact, such as living with an infected person.

Public health says it can not be passed simply by shaking hands, or sharing food or drink.
