A New Officer On The Beat In Saint John

A pint-sized officer is learning about life as a city police officer today.

8-year-old Seth Curnew is a ‘police officer for the day’ and we asked him about what he is most looking forward to doing.

“I’m going to use a radar gun.” Curnew said.

Sgt. David Hartley-Brown of the Crime Reduction team describes the purpose of the Police Officer For A Day.

“Learn about how our operation works, go out in the community and have a better overall picture of the service the Saint John police force provides,” Hartley-Brown said.

Hartley-Brown says Seth will visit various departments including forensics and traffic.

Curnew is starting grade 3 at Champlain Heights School this fall.

We asked Seth what he’d be doing today if he wasn’t protecting the city.

“Playing Fortnite and Yoshi’s Crafted World.” Curnew said.
