Roughly 1 in 5 kids in the Greater Saint John area can’t afford to get involved in sports.
David Dobbelsteyn is the Manager of P.R.O Kids, he says those numbers are dropping thanks to $220,000 dollars that was donated this year, which will help 1500 kids.
Dobbelsteyn says P.R.O kids was able to offer over $325,000 dollars worth of program fees, equipment and transportation to children whose families otherwise could not afford the rising cost of sports, arts, recreation and culture activities.
He says the program had a 20 % increase in the number of kids being supported compared to last year.
Dobbelsteyn says a lot of people don’t realize P.R.O Kids is a confidential service.
