Provincial Government Asks For Input On Planned French Immersion Changes

Proposed changes to French language learning will be the focus of upcoming consultation sessions for the public.

Planned changes to the program are expected to roll out for students starting in the 2023-2024 school year.

Changes will impact students in Kindergarten and grade one for the coming school year.

Teachers, parents and students are invited to offer their input first.

A Livestream question and answer with the Education Minister will be held on January 16th starting at 7 pm, followed by several in-person consultations from 630pm to 830pm at the following locations:

    • Bathurst – Gowan Brae Golf Club on Tues Jan 17, 2023
    • Moncton – Delta Beauséjour on Thurs Jan 19, 2023
    • Saint John – Delta Saint John on Tues Jan 24, 2023
    • Fredericton – Delta Fredericton on Wed Jan 25, 2023
    • Virtual – Tues Jan 31, 2023
    • Virtual – Thurs Feb 2, 2023

A summary of feedback is expected before the end of the winter, with the final framework for the program to be unveiled early in the spring.
