2 Still In Hospital After Monday Crash

Police say two people remain in hospital in serious condition after Monday’s crash on Highway 1 in the Saint John area.

Saint John police say a pursuit began after officers tried to stop a “vehicle of interest” on the east side around 2 p.m. Monday.

Spokesperson Jim Hennessy said the vehicle travelled into the town of Rothesay, which is where officers called off the pursuit.

The vehicle went back toward Highway 1 at a “high rate of speed” and travelled west in the eastbound lanes, he said.

Hennessy said the vehicle hit another vehicle near the Fox Farm Road exit. The driver of that vehicle was treated in hospital and released.

The investigation is ongoing and there is no word on charges, Hennessy said.
