20-Year-Old Man Charged With Impaired Driving Causing Death

A 20-year-old man from Saint-Joseph-de-Madawaska facing a charge of impaired driving causing death after a snowmobile crash in December of 2014.

Nicky Lavoie was the driving the snowmobile when it went over an embankment and claimed the life of 19-year-old Jessy Doiron of Saint-Basile.

RCMP responded to the crash on Chemin Frédéric on December 31st.

Both men were rushed to hospital where Doiron passed away from his injuries.

After an investigation, Lavoie was charged with impaired driving causing death.

He appeared in Edmunston Provincial Court on March 16th and plead not guilty.

He’ll return to court on April 25th.
