AIM Issues Statement On Port Fire

American Iron and Metal releasing a statement about a fire last Thursday at their facility on the west side of Port Saint John.

In the statement, AIM said health officials have concluded there were no explosions and their workers were not exposed to toxic environments.

The cause of the blaze is described as “an undetected nonferrous chunk of material that overheated”.

The company said they take the situation seriously and with a view to prevention, they are currently reviewing which technological changes can be made to prevent this from happening again.
