UPDATE: Man Dies After Industrial Accident At AIM Recycling

A man has died in the hospital after an industrial accident at AIM Recycling Atlantic in west Saint John.

Saint John police said emergency crews were called to the business on Gateway Street around 1:30 p.m. Thursday.

“A 60-year-old man working on-site was injured and transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries,” police said in a news release late Thursday.

The victim, identified as Darrell Richards, died in the hospital on Friday, according to police.

The Saint John Police Force Major Crime Unit is assisting WorkSafeNB and Coroner Services in a joint investigation.

This is the second workplace incident at AIM Recycling Atlantic in recent months.

One person died after being injured at the facility in late November.
