Fatal collision involving Saint John Transit bus

Police say a 71-year-old woman has died after being struck by a Saint John Transit bus.

Saint John police say it happened around 6:15 p.m. Tuesday at MacLaren Boulevard and Itty Bitty Way.

The victim, who police have identified as Wanda Ethel Roche, was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Police said there were several passengers on the bus at the time of the collision, but no other physical injuries were reported.

The road was closed for several hours after the crash and officers seized the bus as part of the investigation.

Investigators are appealing for witnesses or anyone in the area that has dashcam or video footage of the incident.
