It you are awake early tomorrow morning, you’ll want to look up.
Backyard Astronomer Gary Boyle says you’ll be able to view a Lunar eclipse, otherwise known as the Beaver moon or Blood moon.
Boyle says the moon will turn a copper orange, reddish colour, “It is the longest partial eclipse in over 500 years. It is just over three and a half hours because the moon is about one quarter the size of the earth, or about three and half times the actual cone of darkness in the sky. Mid point for the eclipse will be at 5:02 am.”
Look for the lunar eclipse starting at 3:18 tomorrow morning.(Atlantic time)
Boyle adds, “Although it is listed as a partial eclipse, the entire moon will be covered except for a mere three per cent on the southern tip of the moon. It is a very safe event to look at.”
He adds eclipses happen two to three times a year.
“Another one will come up on May 16th, 2022, but it is a total eclipse,” Boyle says.
