2nd person charged in Chipman double homicide

A second person has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with a double homicide in Chipman.

Police received a report of a vehicle on fire with two people inside off Midland Road around 8 a.m. on Nov. 25.

Officers located two bodies inside the burned-out white Chevrolet Equinox SUV once the fire had been extinguished.

They were identified as 47-year-old Robert Waugh and 23-year-old Victoria King, both from the Fredericton area.

Police said investigators determined they had been victims of a homicide.

A 34-year-old man from Minto was arrested at a home on Route 123 in Chipman on Tuesday morning.

He appeared in court on Wednesday and was charged with two counts of first-degree murder.

The accused was remanded into custody until his next court appearance scheduled for Feb. 20.

A 42-year-old man from Chipman, who was arrested over the weekend, was charged with two counts of first-degree murder on Monday.

He also remains in custody and is scheduled to return to court on Feb. 10.
