3 killed in northwestern N.B. crash

Three people from West Africa have died after their vehicle crashed in northwestern New Brunswick.

First responders were called to the crash on Route 17 near Saint-Léonard around 1:30 p.m. Thursday.

RCMP believe the driver lost control of the vehicle, which left the roadway and crashed.

The victims, who were from the country of Côte d’Ivoire, died at the scene from their injuries.

They have been identified as a 30-year-old man, a 27-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman.

All three were reportedly students at the Collège communautaire du Nouveau-Brunswick (CCNB) campus in nearby Campbellton.

Mounties are still piecing together the cause of the crash.
