Two Lamèque men dead after falling from fishing boat

Two men have been found dead after falling off a fishing boat in Northern New Brunswick.

At around 8:50 a.m. Saturday, RCMP were called to help Ambulance New Brunswick and the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) in a search and rescue around seven kilometres off the coast of Lamèque.

A 58-year-old man was located but died at the scene of injuries. A 33-year-old man was also located deceased.

A helicopter, two airplanes, and three boats from the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) along with several local fishing boats assisted in the search and rescue efforts.

An investigation into the deaths is ongoing.
