An inmate assault is under investigation at the Atlantic Institution in Renous.
Correctional Service Canada says the incident happened at the maximum security federal institution on May 21st.
The inmate was taken to hospital and has since returned to the facility.
The Blackville Detachment of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and the institution are presently investigating the incident.
The assailant has been identified and the appropriate actions have been taken.
