Canada bans cosmetic testing on animals

Canada has banned cosmetics testing on animals, following suit with 43 other countries who have already made the move.

Health Minister Jean-Yves Duclos says this will help trading with other countries with similar measures.

“Canadians are also concerned with the well-being of animals. In fact, about 90% of Canadians support the prohibition of animal testing for cosmetics,” Duclos said.

False or misleading statements are also no longer allowed regarding testing on animals.

The ban will come into effect in December.
