4 youths arrested in St. George break-in and theft

Four youths from the Saint John area have been arrested following a break-in and theft in St. George.

Mounties responded to a break and enter in progress at a seasonal residence on Cluster Point Lane around 9:45 a.m. Saturday.

“Four individuals entered the residence and stole a number of items before fleeing the scene on a stolen all-terrain vehicle with a trailer before police arrived,” RCMP said in a news release on Tuesday.

Officers tracked down the four suspects in a nearby wooded area within the hour, police said.

RCMP said all of the stolen property, including the ATV and trailer, were recovered.

Sgt. Chris Henderson is encouraging residents to report any suspicious activity to police.

“The West District RCMP is currently investigating a number of property related crimes, and are reminding property owners to remain vigilant and take steps to secure their property,” Henderson said in the news release.

“The public are our eyes and ears, it’s important that you report any suspicious activity to police so that it can be investigated thoroughly.”

The youths were later released from custody and are expected to appear in court in September.
