$400K worth of contraband seized at Atlantic Institution

More than $400,000 worth of contraband and unauthorized items have been seized at a New Brunswick prison.

The items were seized on the perimeter of Atlantic Institution in Renous last Monday, according to the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC).

The include shatter, methamphetamine, cocaine, tobacco, ketamine, fentanyl and ecstasy valued at $413,250.

“The police have been notified and the institution is investigating,” the Correctional Serivce of Canada said in a news release on Monday.

CSC said it uses several tools to prevent drugs from entering its institutions, including ion scanners and drug-detector dogs to search buildings, personal property, inmates and visitors.
