5 arrested in Saint John robbery: police

Five arrests have been made in connection with a January armed robbery at a Saint John lounge.

Officers responded to the incident at a business on Westmorland Road on Jan. 9.

A man with a firearm entered the lounge and tried to get money from the cash register, police said at the time.

“During an altercation between the man and another individual in the bar, the firearm was discharged,” police said in a news release.

No serious physical injuries were reported during the incident, according to investigators.

Three men and two women have since been arrested in relation to the robbery.

A 45-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman have been charged with robbery and unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon in a motor vehicle.

A 50-year-old man is charged with robbery, possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition, discharge of a firearm with intent to commit, disguise with intent to commit an indictable offense and assault with a weapon.

A 31-year-old man has been charged with robbery, unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon in a motor vehicle, disguise with intent to commit an indictable offense and assault with a weapon.

A 41-year-old woman will appear in court at a later date to face charges.
