53 Dogs Seized From Breeding Kennel

Officials have seized more than 50 dogs from a registered breeding kennel in northern New Brunswick.

The New Brunswick SPCA said they performed an unannounced check of the kennel, located west of Campbellton, last week.

“Upon arrival, officers observed the dogs to be confined in unsanitary conditions and suffering from medical issues such as ear mites, emaciation, and dental problems,” said the NBSPCA in a Facebook post on Wednesday.

A total of 53 dogs and puppies were seized and relocated to several shelters around the province, they said.

They include Yorkshire Terriers, Boston Terriers, Australian Shepherds, Maltese, bulldogs, poodles, schnauzers and pugs.

“The dogs have all been surrendered by the owners and after they receive treatment and recover they should be looking for new homes,” said the NBSPCA.

Officials said the investigation and no other details are being released at this time.
