Rexton volunteer firefighters back on the job

Rexton volunteer firefighters have returned to the firehouse.

A social media post by the Rexton Volunteer Fire Department said it resumed all emergency services in the community at 1 p.m. Wednesday.

It also says the fire department and the Five Rivers municipality remain engaged in constructive conversations to forge a positive path forward.

The 23 firefighters walked off the job on Thursday night after claiming a lack of respect from the mayor and CAO for the village.
