Woman arrested after alleged assault in Saint John

An assault on Main Street North in Saint John has led to an arrest.

On Sunday afternoon, a masked woman reportedly assaulted another woman with a bat.

Members of the Saint John Fire Department were in the area and intervened.

The suspect fled the area in a vehicle but was taken into custody in another part of the city.

A 29-year-old woman will appear in court on July 16.

The victim suffered what were believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

Saint John police say the victim and the accused are known to one another.
