Ceremony to honour fallen officers to be held in Ottawa

Canadian Police and Peace Officers will be remembered in Ottawa.

The Canadian Police and Peace Officer Annual Memorial is held each year on the last Sunday of September.

This year’s ceremony will be held on September 29, and it is the 45th annual.

It honours the memory of men and women who have given their lives to serve our communities.

The first memorial held in 1978, recognized 14 officers and in 2022, the names of 896 brave Canadians were engraved on tablets on Parliament Hill, overlooking the Ottawa River and the Supreme Court of Canada.

The occasion focuses on the sacrifice made by these heroes and their surviving families.
