DTI awaiting repair plan approval for Upper Bridge in St. George

Still no word on when repairs will be done to the Upper Bridge on Brunswick Street in St. George.

The municipality received an update from the Department of Transportation.

It says it has developed a repair plan, but it still needs final approval.

DTI adds it is also awaiting the arrival of components for the work.

It says once the plan is approved and components are in hand, repairs will get underway.

The municipality says it is continuing to work with the province toward a timely resolution.

In the meantime, it asks motorists to obey all signage until it has been removed by DTI. The bridge is currently only open for those who are walking.

All bridges in Eastern Charlotte are owned and maintained by the province’s Department of Transportation, with the exception of snow removal in St. George and Blacks Harbour communities.
