A Saint Johner is among those who have been presented with a national honour by Governor General David Johnston at Rideau Hall in Ottawa for volunteer work.
The Medal for Volunteers going to Ann-Marie Tingley of Saint John who has volunteered for 35 years for the Canadian Association of Community Living and the regional chapter of the Victorian Order of Nurses.
Former mayor of Hampton James Hovey is one of the other three New Brunswickers to receive this honour. He playd a pivotal role in the creation of community theatre in the town. Farrell McCarthy of Miramichi has been recognized for over three decades of volunteer work promoting Irish culture and Moncton’s Richard Wood has been recognized for his volunteer work with many community organizations and community groups.
