Syrian Refugees Should Be Welcomed With Open Arms

The new Trudeau Government plans to bring 25 thousand refugees from Syria into Canada over a relatively short period of time. How many of them will wind up making Saint John their home?

The Executive-Director of the Saint John Human Development Council Randy Hatfield says the more who do, the better it will be for the rest of us.

Hatfield warns if our population in the region continues to drop, so will our economic prospects and immigrants will boost the local economy.

Newly appointed Immigration Minister John McCallum says the Liberal government is considering “all options” as it looks to honour its promise to resettle 25,000 Syrian refugees before the end of this year.
