City fire crews had to contend with 9 grass fires, mostly in the north end, and three brush fires, the biggest of which was in a large wooded area where Samuel Davis Drive meets Sandy Point Road.
There was concern, at the time, over the proximity of that fire to the natural gas pipeline.
