Longtime Saint John Firefighter Passes Away

Saint John Firefighters are in mourning due to the death of Platoon Chief Peter Saab.

Peter was a proud member of the SJFD and served the residents of Saint John with honour and courage for 35 years, both as a decorated Firefighter and a Platoon Chief. He was honoured for resuscitating 3 year old Sean Cook and is also a recipient of the Rescue Commendation in performing an act of personal bravery.

Peter worked most of his career in the rescue squad and was promoted to a District Chief in 2008 as well as being named Firefighter of the Year in 1993.

Visitation will take place tomorrow and Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 in the afternoon and from 5:30 to 8:00 at night at Brenan’s on Paradise Row.

The Funeral Liturgy will be offered Saturday morning from the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception starting at 10:00.
