Moncton High School Teacher Sentenced For Sex Crimes

It’s 30 months behind bars for a former high school teacher, who was found guilty of sex related charges.

Disgraced former Harrison Trimble High School teacher William MacGillivray was sentenced today for three sex charges relating to an inappropriate relationship with a student.

43 year old MacGillivray received 2.5 years for sexual exploitation, 1 year for child luring, and 6 months for obstructing a police officer, minus 104 days of time served. All sentences are to be served concurrently.

The judge said the length of the sentence was related to the size of the violation of his position of trust as a teacher, and to be a deterrent for others who might consider the same crime.
