Construction of Irving Oil’s new home office has officially begun in the parking lot on King’s Square South next to the Imperial Theatre with ground being broken.
The new home office is expected to take 18 to 24 months to build.
Over 200 skilled tradespeople will be employed during the construction of this new building, which marks the first major development of its kind in uptown Saint John in more than 25 years.
The start of the project was delayed because of an objection filed by the city’s former heritage planner, Jim Bezanson. Common Council thyen made a change to the bylaw to allow the building to move ahead.
Irving Oil released a video to mark the groundbreaking occasion. Watch here: bit.ly/1t1dcr5
