Saint John Harbour M-L-A and provincial cabinet minister Dr. Ed Doherty walking into the lion’s den as he showed up at the town hall meeting on nursing home fees organised by the Seniors Coalition.
The seniors call the proposed new policy unacceptable and destroying the province. They claim to be under attack but Dr. Doherty disagrees and calls it a good policy that will benefit less affluent seniors.
Dr. Doherty didn’t have a lot of answers to the questions being posed but is promising to bring their concerns to the attention of the Premier and Social Development Minister Cathy Rogers.
The seniors want nursing home fees to be based on income rather than their assets.
A rally is being planned for Fredericton May 28th.
