Nature Conservancy Has Big Plans In Province

The 100 thousand dollar contribution by former Premier Frank McKenna to help preserve the Bartholemew River in the Miramichi is part of the largest conservation project ever undertaken in the province by Nature Conservancy at more than 2 thousand acres.

Its President and C-E-O John Lounds says volunteers are also being sought to help build boardwalks and clean up trails at the Musquash Estuary, one of the few marine protected areas in the country and home to a lot of wildlife just outside Saint John including bears and bobcats.

The Miramichi River Conservation Project is going to cost a million dollars.
