Rogers Says Solutions Being Sought For Hospital Overcrowding

The minister of Social Development says that she and her counterpart in the Health Department are working closely together on a number of issues including overcrowding in hospitals.

Cathy Rogers says it is a complex issue and there are multiple areas in which to come up with a response.

“We know it’s an issue but it’s not a new issue, it has been going on for many years and it has multiple roots.”

Rogers says the province wants seniors to stay in their own homes for as long as they can but she adds other initiatives are underway including adding more nursing home beds.

Horizon Health doctors recently sent an open letter to the province indicating that overcrowding in hospitals has become a crisis situation.
