Millions Of People Across 53 Commonwealth Nations Celebrate Queen’s 90th Birthday

Millions of people in the Commonwealth are celebrating the life, and health of Queen Elizabeth the Second.

She is celebrating her 90th birthday, and 64 years on the throne this weekend.

New Brunswick Lieutenant-Governor Jocelyne Roy Vienneau says the Queen is one of the most significant women in the world.

She adds her life of duty, commitment and service to others is a great role model.

Roy Vienneau met the Queen after she was appointed to the position of Lieutenant Governor of New Brunswick.

Roy Vienneau is hosting a party this afternoon at Government House in Fredericton.

She says ever since this land was claimed by the King of France in 1604, New Brunswick has had a special relationship with monarchies.

One of the many events on the weekend was a parade of troops for the Queen.

The New Brunswick Branch of the Monarchist League of Canada has been following the celebrations carefully.

Governor General of Canada David Johnston was in attendance in London, but it was not all celebratory.

He also met with other representatives of the Queen from other Commonwealth states.
