Mispec Beach Will Reopen By July Of Next Year

Mispec Beach will reopen by July of next year after phase one of a reconstruction project was approved by Common Council.

The existing stairs and its concrete base will be removed because they’re not considered safe.

In phase one, a new set of stairs will be built at the eastern end of the beach where the footbath was previously. City Staff say two citizen groups have made a commitment to fundraising a portion of the $40,000 cost of phase one.

The second phase of the project to protect the slope against future storms could cost over half a million dollars.
