The Provincial Conservatives are accusing the governing Liberals of saying one thing but doing another.
In the reply to the government’s Speech from the Throne, Interim Conservative leader Bruce Fitch predicts the HST will be going up after the next provincial budget is unveiled.
Fitch says the provincial government has implemented a strategy of squeezing every last drop from the low income taxpayers. He also questions how you can cut teachers before you have your ten year education plan in place.
Fitch says the the fiscal crisis the Liberals are talking about in their Strategic Programme Review is of their own making because the previous Conservative government was on track to balance the provincial budget in 2017.
The Liberals are forecasting a budget deficit this year of over 450 million dollars and pledge to balance the books by 2020.
