Education Proposals From Strategic Program Review Under Fire

Parents are upset by the suggestion to cut teachers and increase class sizes in an effort to reduce the cost of the provincial government. So says the M-L-A for Hampton, Gary Crossman.

The Strategic Programme Review report says by increasing maximum class sizes by four students, the province would save from between $50 million and $70 million dollars but Crossman warns increasing class sizes will hurt students and impair academic achievement.

The M-L-A for Fredericton West Hanwell, Brian MacDonald says the province can’t even come up with a policy on snow days never mind a ten year plan to transform the education system.
