UPDATED: Metal Working Association Of NB Calls On Hydraulic Fracturing Committee To Meet

The Metal Working Association of New Brunswick is calling on the three-member commission on hydraulic fracturing appointed by the Gallant goverment back in March to roll up their sleeves and get to work.

Executive Director Joel Richardson tells us they recently became aware that the commission hasn’t met since the appointments were made. He says if the current members of the commission aren’t motivated to do the work they are requesting the Premier replace them.

The metal working industry unanimously throwing its support behind the responsible exploration and development of natural gas at its annual general meeting in Miramichi on Wednesday.

Richardson says they believe this a significant potential economic development opportunity for New Brunswick and they don’t want to miss out on it.

UPDATE: The provincial government says the independant commission on hydraulic fracturing has met since the members were appointed in late March. It’s also been announced that member Guy Richard has stepped down and is being replaced by former clerk of the Executive Council, Marc Léger.
