NDP Leader Dominic Cardy Says Social Assistance In New Brunswick Is Unfair

Provincial NDP Leader Dominic Cardy says the main priority in the province should be increasing wages, not social assistance.

He says benefits disappear after you take a minimum wage job, making it nearly impossible to survive.

Cardy adds social assistance should be a safety net, and when it is genuinely needed, it should be used only in the short term.

Cardy says the best way to guarantee human dignity is to make sure people have jobs.
