A lucky escape for two people as the car they were in was destroyed by fire along Highway 1 westbound just past the Hampton exit.
We have been told by an eyewitness the car ran over an animal of some sort between 2:30 and 3 this morning with the fire breaking out shortly after that.
Flames could be seen billowing from the car by passersby.
