Local High School Preparing To Welcome Refugee Students

St. Malachy’s Memorial High School is preparing its students to welcome refugee classmates with open arms if some do end up attending the school.

Vice-Principal Greg Norton tells CHSJ news he expects to find out how many refugees will attend the school by February.

The school hosting an Action Day on refugees where students were given information on how to make them feel welcomed once, and if, they attend the school.

Various speakers, including some refugees, spoke to the students about the importance of making the newcomers feel welcome both in and out of the classroom.
