Tailwhip Park Officially Opens In Grand Bay-Westfield

Young people in Grand Bay-Westfield who want to practice their kick flips, ollies and other tricks now have a designated place to do so with Tailwhip Park officially opening.

The facility, which is located on River Valley Drive next to the River Valley Community Centre and the middle school, can be used for skateboarding, BMX-ing, playing basketball and more.

Grand Bay-Westfield Mayor Grace Losier says Trace Planning & Design, which developed the park, did so in consultation with the youth to ensure they got what what they were looking for. She says they had over a dozen entries to name the park and Ben VanWart won that contest. He was presented with a skateboard for naming the park Tailwhip Park, which is a BMX trick.

Connor, who was at the opening, tells us they would always get kicked of places but in the park now they can do whatever they want. Brad tells us he thinks the park is pretty sweet.

The cost of the park was about $219,000.
