Weather Buoy Brings Real Time Info For Port Saint John Users

The first conversation about having a buoy to gather accurate weather data in the Saint John Harbour took place in 2000.
It’s reality now with the official launch of the SmartATLANTIC Saint John Inshore weather buoy website.
Captain Andrew Rae is a Harbour pilot and he says knowing when to transfer safely between vessels allows operations in the port to continue seemlessly.
He says he’s sure now that Saint John will be able to secure cruise ship traffic they may have lost in the past because they’ll be able to look at that and make decisions based on good information.
The launch of the technology and a demonstration of the website took place in the ALERT office in the Grandview Avenue Industrial Park.
